Cultivating
Bio Taiwan, Broad viewing world market
The year 2007 is a break-though for Taiwan’s biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. A statue to encourage development of the biotech and pharmaceutical industry was passed in June, offering incentives to boost one of the nation's most promising sectors. The statue, put into effect in July 2007 and to expire in the end of 2021, includes incentives and improvement over four areas: business tax, professional manpower recruitment, product review efficiency and industry upgrade.
Addressing the opening ceremony of BioTaiwan 2007, Premier Chang of the Executive Yuan noted that the government will invest more than 600 million USD along with 1 billion USD from private venture investment to promote the development of biotech industry, hoping to create another “trillion industry” following the triumph of the country’s IT industry.
With the government’s strong support and active participation from the biotech community, BioTaiwan has become the largest event for the biotechnology industry in Asia Pacific. Attracting more than ever exhibitors and increased international media attention, BioTaiwan 2007 was a phenomenal success. BioTaiwan 2008 will be held July 24-27 at Taipei World Trade Center in Taipei, Taiwan. In an effort to bring in more international participation and ensure the continued success of the event, we have begun the preparatory work for next year. The event provides a platform to showcase your organization, learn what’s new in the industry and make connections with your peers. We look forward to seeing you @ BioTaiwan 2008!
